We were asked to shoot a clothing shoot for an alternative clothing and themed shoot just recently. The idea was to show off the clothing as best as possible.

Here are a selection of our favourites.

Shooting with electrical equipment in the rain is always interesting. However we were able to get some interesting shots even though it was raining.

I love motorbikes having owned and ridden bikes on and off for the last 30 odd years. It was a joy to shoot Sarah Maguire with a CBR600RR last week. She wanted to use her own CBR 250RR but it was in need of some repair so her uncles bike was used instead. After the bike shots we focused on some natural light with a lovely cream dress in the grass. Ill let the pictures do the talking.

We were lucky enough to be on hand and available when other people fell through and cancelled on AZ and Shawry at SMD Studios and they were left in the lurch with no tog and lots of cars and bikes turning up.

Jumping in and shooting was natural and I just took it all on – Bikes, Cars, Girls, Graffiti, Hip Hop and random craziness.

Shooting with snakes is always interesting - especially when shooting venomous snakes. The Common Death Adder is particularly fun - when its wriggling towards you flat out as you try to get it in focus with its tongue flicking out!

Fortunately the handler was dragging him away from me!. The pythons were much safer and I also shot my large jungle python named Boaz. Dayna was very confident handling the non venomous snakes and at one point had 7 snakes draped over her. Even Jess the makeup artist was helping catch the runaways!

We finished with a large python in a dark background for some gorgeous shots.

Must remember to pack insect repellent in my shoot kit. Mozzies were not our friends on the shoot down at Red Beach Bribie Island.

What an epic shoot. I think I am never ever organising such an insane shoot again! Not that it wasn't fun, but I've learnt my lesson - too many people to shoot in one day. We had 13 ladies booked and we ended up taking 12 hours to do the whole thing from leave in the morning to setup the set, and then shoot everybody and then go home. And then the editing! I think I've been editing for ever!

I have also been educated in many of the finer technical aspects of Chinese Pole, aerial acrobatics let me tell you. Don't be fooled, these pictures look effortless but the ladies were working really hard to pull them off and there was a lot of sweat and chalk was being applied liberally to thighs and hands. Having the gym instructor barking instructions at the ladies was also funny as they corrected the poses to show the correct technical aspects.

What Pole Gym is NOT is the sort of pole dancing you might see in a strip club. It is actually nothing to do with that at all. It is actually the acrobatic extension of gymnastics rope, silks and aerial hoop work. This can be frustrating for people to understand.

I have shown two types of photos below. Some are the technical pole positions - I haven't attempted to name them for fear of getting them wrong, the have names like superman, hanging basket, scorpion etc. There are also some acrobatic poses using a chair as a prop. Secondly i have included some of the portrait style photos we produced for most of the ladies.

I was also excited to have one of the ladies produce large scale mounted images for her wall at home.
