Louden Family Portraits

It is really nice to see a family who get along real well together and look out for each other. The Louden family are one of those families. Each genuinely care for the others and you can see this in the way they interact. One of the little girls got something in her eye and the other had a green ant bite 5 minutes into the shoot. Everybody showed concern and helped them feel better and get back into the spirit of taking photos again.

As a result we had a lot of fun. First we did a staggered shoot under some old gnarled trees and then used another tree to arrange people under and on. Then it was onto synchronised walking and jumping - lots of hilarity there! Finally we did some nice group shots out on the grass with a thundery grey cloudy sky. We finished with some more antics and then packed up.

Here are some of the best ones.

2011 Noosa Summer Charity Ball

2011-11-05 Noosa Ball 017The inaugural charity gala event was held at the Noosa Sheraton Resort  to raise funds for Katie Rose Cottage at Doonan, a hospice dedicated to the whole of the Sunshine Coast for people who require palliative care. Katie Rose Cottage provides free palliative care and accommodation for their guests and relies solely on donations to run the hospice. The goal of the Katie Rose Cottage is to assist their guests in being as aware and pain-free as possible, so that their last days may be spent with dignity and quality while surrounded by their loved ones. The care at Katie Rose Cottage treats the person rather than the disease, focusing on quality rather than length of life; it affirms life and neither hastens nor postpones death. The hospice is family oriented by including the guest and the family in making decisions. All funds raised from the Noosa Summer Charity Ball, including the ticket sales will go directly to Katie Rose Cottage.

On 5th November 2011 the Noosa Summer Charity Ball hosted a Roaring 20’s Charity Ball at the Sheraton Noosa. In a nod to the Roaring Twenties, Lilly Pond Terrace and the Noosa Ball Room was transformed into a Speakeasy Bar with lounges and plenty of mood lighting. A lavish evening of live entertainment and dancing, raffles, auctions, delicious food and fabulous fun was had by all.

Dreamcoat Photography was there to shoot  as period photographers (though with modern equipment thank goodness) capturing the glamour of the ritzy and debonair set playing gentle people with a beautifully restored (fully working) Model T Ford. We printed the photos on the night for everybody. 50% of our proceeds were donated to the Katie Rose Cottage charity as well.

Supanova Brisbane 2011

2011-11-06 Supanova 029

The Brisbane Supanova Pop Culture Exposition was a lot of fun to to be at. There were lots of very cool people, awesome costumes, amazing sights and lots very good trade booths and events. I took my daughter Miranda who dressed as Yuki Cross from Vampire Knights - in an awesome costume her very talented mother hand sewed! I have put up around 1000 photos that are available with a creative commons licence on Flickr in the Supanova Brisbane Set. These are small size images - only 1600 pixels and are not edited for colour and exposure balance etc. If you want a full size edited one then the prices are as follows:

Here are some pictures of Miranda.

Snake Shoot with Dayna

Shooting with snakes is always interesting - especially when shooting venomous snakes. The Common Death Adder is particularly fun - when its wriggling towards you flat out as you try to get it in focus with its tongue flicking out!

Fortunately the handler was dragging him away from me!. The pythons were much safer and I also shot my large jungle python named Boaz. Dayna was very confident handling the non venomous snakes and at one point had 7 snakes draped over her. Even Jess the makeup artist was helping catch the runaways!

We finished with a large python in a dark background for some gorgeous shots.

Here is a selection of the photos from the shoot.

Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation

The Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation programme attracts a lot of ladies and men to change their weight and bodies through changing diets habits and  exercise. The finale is a large share exercise session that runs for two to three hours and Michelle comes and participates and encourages those who come along. This year I was involved in shooting this and the below shots indicate some of the shots from the exercise sessions.

Following the exercise session we headed into the Hilton ballroom where there was a cocktail evening and presentations for the winners. Part of this was a red carpet experience with Michelle where I set up lights and shot groups of people posing with Michelle against a banner.

I have included a selection of photos from this event to indicate the types of photos you can expect from a similar event.
